Which permaculture course is for me?

Perhaps you’ve read some permaculture books and are looking to cement your learning, or maybe you've just discovered the word 'permaculture' and are asking yourself, what exactly is it and how does it work?

If you’re interested in the environment and how we can design not just sustainable but regenerative and ethical systems, that are good for people and planet, then a permaculture design course (PDC) is for you. Participating on a PDC is a transformative experience that will enable you to make many positive changes in your own life and the world around you.

I offer a range of different permaculture courses here in Britain, and occasionally overseas, including an Introduction to Permaculture, the full certified Permaculture Design Course, Practical Forest Gardening, Ethical Livelihood Design, Observation and Mapping, and Systems and Patterns.

Most recently I've also added an online course that guides you in developing your own site, using our new home as the case study. It's a course that you can start anytime and progress at your own pace.

Design Your Site with Permaculture

The certified permaculture design course is perfect for someone who would like to go deeper into permaculture design while gaining a broad introduction to the applications of permaculture in a number of different situations. All our permaculture design courses are grounded in producing an original land based design but also cover non-land based designs including social and economic structures.

In-person courses

Introduction to Permaculture

The introduction to permaculture course is a great place to start to get a good understanding of what permaculture really is and how it can work in practice. It’s most suitable for people who would like to find out a bit more about permaculture principles and design, and want to start applying them in their own homes and gardens.

Permaculture Design Course

Our Permaculture Association certified PDC is perfect for someone who would like to go deeper into permaculture design while gaining a broad introduction to the applications of permaculture in a number of different situations. All our permaculture design courses are grounded in producing an original land based design but also cover non-land based designs including social and economic structures.

Permaculture Ethical Livelihood

If you want to focus on designing a livelihood or lifestyle that is both more sustainable and abundant then this is the course for you. The popular Design Your Ethical Livelihood course will take you through the design process and teach you how to use permaculture principles to design a personalised plan unique to your own ethics, principles and needs. This course is suitable for anyone regardless of their permaculture experience.

Practical Permaculture Courses

Both our Observation and Mapping course and Practical Forest Gardening course are rooted in both theoretical and practical elements. If you want to explore permaculture theory and cement your new knowledge in practice with support and guidance while learning practical skills then these are the courses for you.

Permaculture Systems and Patterns

Understanding how systems behave and how to make use of nature's patterns are important foundations for creating an effective permaculture design. This course is for anyone who wants to delve deeper into the world of systems and patterns, studying them in nature and in our own lives to help us become better permaculture designers.

Permaculture Teacher Training

If you’ve been inspired by permaculture and would like to share your permaculture knowledge this course will give you the tools and techniques to teach with skill and confidence. The course is suitable for both apprentice and experienced teachers as well as those who have just completed the Permaculture Design Course.

On-site Design Training Course

This training course is for those who need assistance in understanding how to take the basic principles of permaculture design and apply them on a land-based project. Available to both groups and individuals, the training will take you through a hands-on land-based design process on a real site. Available on request.

Advanced
On-site Design Training Course

The advanced on-site courses are for permaculture students who have already completed a Permaculture Design Course or significant reading and have begun applying the design tools to their own projects. Available on request.
